I don't have Adobe Photoshop.. what to do now?

You don't have Adobe Photoshop? Use Adobe's "Photoshop Elements" instead. It's a real bargain compared to Photoshop CS! It has about 95 % of all
most used tools and features. Yet...Elements is about 90% cheaper!
It is being sold online for about 85 euro's (about 100 dollars).

Can I change Still-Effects to my own wishes?

Yes. No restrictions. You can change colors, transparancies, shapes , sizes & resolutions, etc. Create endless numbers of your own, personal customized templates by combining them; just drop them on top each other. You are completely free in the creative process. When finished you easily remove them from your image all the same!

In the visual effects cataloque I see only square images, what about rectangles?

Every filter-template that is showed in the library comes as a double (!) file that covers both square and rectangle images! You are not restricted.
